In last season's game, the Tigers nearly pulled off the upset against the #12 Illini, falling by only two points, 81-79. That game was played in front of a mostly Illinois crowd, so I see no reason why Auburn can't pull off the upset this time around.
Interestingly, this game falls the day after the SEC Championship in the Georgia Dome, so if football can hold up their end of the deal it should be a great weekend for Auburn athletics in the ATL.
We are still awaiting Auburn's full schedule, but we have already learned about Auburn's Big 12/SEC matchup against Iowa State as well as a couple of home games against ACC foes Clemson and Boston College in December. The SEC revealed their entire schedule last week as well. All of these updates can be found in the blog's Schedule tab, so check back often for more dates.

Don't underestimate the Illinois crowd. They have a huge alumni base in the Southeast that will come out to the game. I was at a UGA-Illinois neutral site game in Duluth, GA (an Atlanta suburb) a few years ago, and it was probably at least 80% orange and blue. The I-L-L I-N-I chant covered up the UGA pep band. But that being said, I hope Auburn can pull it off! War Eagle!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I do anticipate that they will bring a ton of people, but even still, having any Auburn fans in the crowd will be better than last year.
DeleteHey what do you think if we could bring a jungle section to this game I think it would be pretty cool. I'm just in high school but I know I'll be heading to the game. Auburn needs our support. War Eagle!
ReplyDeleteNo one seems to have ANY info about this game anywhere. I even called Philps arena and was told they have no calendar listing/tickets for this game. Anyone know what's up?
