Who the @#$% Are the Real Deal Shockers?!

This is probably a question you've been asking since Auburn announced their trip to the Bahamas. So naturally, I scoured the internet for everything I could find about the 2013-14 Tigers' first opponent. (and other info on who and where Auburn will be playing)

The Real Deal Shockers play in the Vince Ferguson Division of the New Providence Basketball Association (NPBA), which is a branch of the Bahamas Basketball Federation. (I had a hard time finding anything out about the BBF because their web domain has expired, so I apologize) In the Vince Ferguson Division, the Shockers are pitted against fierce competition like the Mailboat Cybots and the Double R. Services Ltd. Cleaners. The more I read about this league, the more it starts to sound like the Sharknado of basketball leagues, which makes it the most awesome basketball league to ever come to this earth. (Just look at their official website!)

According to the league website, our beloved Shockers had a pretty solid season last year, going 10-6 overall, which was good enough to earn them second place in the Vince Ferguson Division behind only the dreaded Mailboat Cybots.

The only data that I could find on the Shockers' roster was from last year, and is likely unreliable. I guess that will be a mystery that we'll have to solve on Tuesday.

As for the Bahamas All-Stars, I think it's safe to assume that they are some sort of an all-star squad related to the NPBA or BBF, but it was much more difficult to find any information about this team. I did find some pictures of their game against High Point in 2010, so if you're interested you can head here.

I want a pair of them shorts.

Both of Auburn's games will be played in The Kendal G. L. Isaacs National Gymnasium, which appears to be a small multi-purpose gym located in the Central New Providence area. It is relatively new, as it first opened in 1990, and is named after a former Governor General of The Bahamas. @AUBasketball tweeted this picture of the Tigers practicing in the facility on Sunday:

Auburn gets a taste of what it was like to play in Beard-Eaves

The event that Auburn are taking part in this week is the Bahamas Basketball Federation 2013 Summer of Thunder Basketball Tournament. A few other college teams will be playing in the event as well, like Maryland, Manhattan, and Hampton, but Auburn is forbidden from officially playing against them before the season by the NCAA.

So there you have it, just about all of the info out there on just who and where Auburn will be playing this week. They face off against our beloved Real Deal Shockers on Tuesday at 8 pm CT and play the Bahamas All-Stars on Thusday at 6 pm CT. Sound off in the comments if you see anything I missed!
